Tottenham could miss out on £50m transfer Ange Postecoglou has already admitted he wants

Tottenham have been handed an unexpected concern over one of their recent signings. Spurs found themselves desperate for new signings heading into January, with their season already in pieces at that point, largely due to the seemingly endless injury issues.
The North London side snapped up Antonin Kinsky, Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel were snapped up, with the latter two on loan deals with the view to making them permanent this summer.

In fact, he made just two appearances for the Bavarians before joining Tottenham on loan, so it felt like a deal that suited everyone given Tottenham’s need for more competition out wide both in the short and medium term.
Spurs haven’t had enough production from their wingers this season, with loan signing Timo Werner failing to deliver, and the German will almost certainly be heading back to RB Leipzig at the end of his loan spell this summer despite Tottenham holding an option to buy.
As for Tel, there are now reports from Kicker in Germany that claim Bayern are considering a shock move to recall Tel specifically for the Club World Cup which, in its new form, will begin in June this summer in New Zealand, with the competition taking on more of a traditional World Cup form, including various teams from around the world, and not just continental competition winners, as has been the case previously.
The claim is a strange one given Tottenham have an option to buy, and if Bayern wanted to recall Tel, they would likely need to compensate Spurs for the removal of that option, unless the North London club agreed to remove the clause. Tel’s loan deal is likely due to run until the end of May, so Bayern could get the winger back in June and ready for the Club World Cup if Tottenham did not opt to sign him permanently or agreed to remove the clause at a cost.

Whether Postecoglou will be with Tottenham in the summer remains to be seen, and that could also be a significant factor here, but the Spurs chiefs also seemed to be sold on Tel at the time of his signing, and it’s no secret that the Lilywhites beat big competition to land the signing, with a number of Premier League clubs reportedly pursuing him during January.
So far, Tel has made four league appearances for Spurs, starting all four, while he was on the bench for the game he was absent for. He is yet to provide a goal or assist, but there is always going to be an adjustment period for a 19-year-old moving to a new league.
