Gareth Southgate’s side showed strength and mental fortitude to come back from the dead, and were even close to winning against Germany but for a late error from goalkeeper Nick Pope allowed Kai Havertz to equalise.

Pochettino was at Wembley with his assistant Jesus Perez as rumours continue to swell on his interest in the England job.

Gareth Southgate is under massive pressure following an underwhelming Nations League competition where England went for almost 10 hours without scoring a goal but they corrected that against Germany.

There are some fans who also believe Southgate should be given the chance to take the team to Qatar having guided the team to a last four finish in the last two major competitions.

England are in the same group with Iran, Wales and USA which they are expected to sail through but it gets tougher from there with the possibility of facing Brazil and France as they travel through the competition.

Pochettino was fired at PSG for failing to win the Champions League but he still has a lot  of admirers in England after impressive work with Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur.

He established Tottenham as a real top four side and led them to the Champions League final where they lost to Liverpool.
