Tottenham icon Harry Kane Spurs return in doubt as he is 'considering' move to European giants
One of Tottenham Hotspur’s modern greats could be on the move next summer
Harry Kane has begun the new Bundesliga season in scintillating fashion, breaking all sorts of records as Bayern Munich have won each of their first 15 games of the campaign in all competitions, the first-ever side in Europe’s top five leagues to do this.

The England captain has already scored a staggering 22 goals in 15 matches and is an early contender for next year’s Ballon d’Or if he keeps up his current form and wins major honours with club and country in 2026.
With Bayern one of the favourites for the Champions League, it has emerged that Kane might consider moving onto pastures new in summer 2026 as he takes the next step in his storied career. The Tottenham Hotspur legend, who is the north Londoners’ all-time top goalscorer with 280 goals for the club, reportedly has a €65million (£57m) release clause become active in summer 2026, and there are no shortage of suitors - including his old club Spurs.
Barcelona linked with sensational move for Kane
According to reports by Sport in Spain, Barcelona could be a stunning next destination for Kane as the 32-year-old carefully considers his options for the next stage of his career. He is ‘considering’ a move to the iconic Catalan club according to the report, though extending his stay at Bayern is also not out of the question.
The report considers Kane’s release clause ‘reasonable’ for Barca, who must continue to spend their money wisely in the transfer market after recent financial scrutiny. But La Blaugrana may need a replacement for veteran striker Robert Lewandowski next summer, and could see Kane as the perfect successor to the Pole, arriving in Catalonia at what would be a similar stage in his career to that of former Bayern star Lewandowski in 2022.
Premier League clubs are cited as potential rivals for Kane’s signature, in addition to interest from Saudi Arabia. Barcelona ‘held talks’ with Kane during his time with Spurs, but a deal is viewed as more financially viable now than it was then. Barca have not yet begun to formalise interest in Kane, with the belief existing that no decision will be made by the club until the end of the season.
Tottenham ‘eager’ to bring Kane back to north London
Sport’s report continues that Tottenham would love to bring Kane back to his former club, stating that the Lilywhites are ‘eager’ to secure a return for arguably their greatest-ever player. Considering the relatively modest financials involved for a player of Kane’s quality, Spurs will view a stunning homecoming as within their means next summer.
Competition will undoubtedly be fierce, particularly as Kane appears to be elevating his game to new levels and might have his hands on major silverware come the end of the season. But previous reports have suggested that Spurs get first refusal on Kane’s release clause and the opportunity to match any bids made to Bayern.
Spurs will be encouraged by the fact that the Premier League’s all-time goalscoring record could be there to be broken should Kane return to England. If this were to be with another Premier League club, or the 32-year-old decides to see out his career in Spain, it would be a bitter pill to swallow. Further updates to this story will be sure to arrive in the months which follow.
