Harry Kane to Tottenham transfer latest: Bayern Munich clause emerges, Thomas Frank's stance
Tottenham continue to be linked with a move to bring back Harry Kane from Bayern Munich.
Tottenham are often being linked with bringing Harry Kane back to the club, with the striker still having that Premier League scoring record hanging tantalisingly in front of him. In reality, the record does not hold as much weight when compared with the lure of consistently winning trophies elsewhere.

Kane may also be eyeing a Champions League title with Bayern, but now 32 years of age, he will be considering every possibility. Here we round up the latest on the striker’s situation amid talk of a possible Spurs return.
How Kane could leave Bayern
Tottenham and other clubs have been given hope over a Kane transfer thanks to a report from BILD explaining that the striker will be available for £56.8million at the end of this season as long as he informs Bayern he wants to leave in January.
Whether Kane wants to leave Bavaria is another question given the success he has achieved there and the opportunity that he has to win the Champions League, something he would have at few Premier League clubs, given he is not going to sign for Arsenal, Liverpool already have expensive strikers and even Manchester City, who do not look ready for European success, are likely out of the question given the presence of Erling Haaland.
What Thomas Frank has said
Tottenham boss Thomas Frank was asked about the possibility of signing Kane next summer. He said in response: “There are a lot of Tottenham fans, including myself who would like to see Kane back. Personally, I don’t think he will do it right now, if I’m honest. He’ll probably stay in Bayern [Munich] and continue performing well. He was the top scorer last year. He won the title and he’s doing fantastic now.”
He added: “I don’t know what he’s thinking. Myself, I’m a traveller, I like to explore things as well, so he’s been here for many years, so why not enjoy the time in Bayern a little bit more. But he’s welcome. If he wants to join us, he’s more than welcome.”
What Kane has said
Kane won Bundesliga with Bayern last season, and he seemed to be a rather happy camper after that achievement. He told The Guardian shortly after: “It’s nice to be on the other side to be honest, to have that celebration I’ve not had before,” he says. “I’ve seen my fair share of other teams lifting trophies.
“It doesn’t change me as a player,” Kane reflects. “I’m no different to what I was before I had won. It was something that was missing from my résumé. Maybe once you’ve won your first one there’s a little less to talk about and throw my way, but again it comes with it.”
He added: “It is a weight on the shoulders. I’m very aware of the fact that I hadn’t won it. I put myself under more pressure than anyone else. As the years go by you start to think: ‘Is it going to happen?’ You keep going, you keep pushing yourself and good things come and this is definitely one of those. And we’ll see what people talk about now. I’m sure they’ll find something and I’ll take it in my stride.”
Asked about his decision to leave Tottenham, Kane said: “It was a big decision. I could have easily stayed at Spurs, played in the Premier League and carried on scoring goals, but I wanted to push myself. I wanted to see how good I could be and play in the biggest games, the biggest title run-ins and Champions League games. I’ve done that. Though we’ve not been successful in the other competitions we’ve played in big games and big nights. And I think that tonight is just the start of something special.”
