Tottenham Europa League semi-final: Opponents confirmed, dates and ticket prices

What we know so far about Tottenham’s Europa League semi-final after their win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Tottenham are one step closer to silverware and Champions League qualification after advancing to the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday night. Spurs travelled to Germany on level terms with an Eintracht Frankfurt side sat third in Bundesliga, but they stood up to the task, winning the second leg thanks to a Dominic Solanke penalty.

It was another resolute European display from Spurs, one that looked very different from the vast majority of their Premier League outings this season. But the competition has become a natural priority for the North London club, given it is the only remaining avenue to European qualification this season. Here we round up what we know about Tottenham’s semi-final fixture.

Who will Tottenham play in the Europa League semi-finals?

Tottenham will face Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League semi-final after the Norwegian club pulled off an unlikely win over Lazio. They won 2-0 in the first leg and lost 2-0 in the second, conceding a stoppage time equaliser. They then conceded again in the first-half of extra time, but they levelled it up in the second and went on to win on penalties in Rome. Bodo/Glimt won the Norwegian league last season, while the current season only started two games ago.

When are Tottenham’s Europa League semi-final fixtures?

Tottenham will play the first leg of their Europa League semi-final at home on Thursday, May 1 and the second leg one week later, on May 8. The first leg will take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the second at Aspmyra Stadion, which holds 8,270 people.

Who awaits the victor in the final?

Either Manchester United or Athletic Club will be in the final of the Europa League, facing the winner of Tottenham and Lazio. Athletic Club are already through and will be particularly motivated, with the final taking place at their stadium, San Mames, in Bilbao. The Spanish side beat Rangers in the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, Manchester United gave up a two-goal lead at home to Lyon to go to extra-time, went two goals behind and then produced a comeback of their own to win 5-4 on the night and 7-6 on aggregate, progressing to face Athletic Club, where they will get a taste of the final venue.

Ticket prices for Tottenham’s Europa League semi-finals

Tottenham priced the Eintracht Frankfurt game at category C, but it seems likely this one will be a category B fixture. Category C fixtures are priced at £38 to £81 for adults, meanwhile, category B prices range from £49 to £96 for adults. It seems unlikely Spurs would price this game at category A, but in case they do, it’s worth knowing that top category tickets range for £71 to £109. Concessions are available in all categories at reduced prices. Season ticket holders should check the Tottenham website for information on sale processes for this fixture.

What Postecoglou has said

Spurs boss Postecoglou was asked whether his players could salvage their season with a Europa League title win ahead of the Frankfurt game. He responded: "I don't see it as salvaging the season, I see it as an opportunity to do something special, so it depends on your outlook on life. We're at a point where we've got an opportunity to get to a semi-final of major competition, obviously we know the challenges before us, so that's what we're excited about.

“These opportunities don't come around very often, even if you're having a very good season, sometimes they don't come around, so why not take it? That's the message to the players as well, irrespective of everything else that's happened this year, we're a game away from the final four of a major competition and you shouldn't just take that for granted in terms of something that's a regular recurrence, so take advantage of it."

Asked after the game about reaching the final four, the Spurs boss added: “We're in the final four, in the semi-final of a famous competition. Even for this club, with its famous history, we are not often there, so we want to make sure we put out best foot forward.”
