Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has ruled out speedy central defender Mickey van de Ven from upcoming games against Aston Villa, Galatasaray, and Ipswich Town after confirming the extent of his injury.
The Dutch defender limped off during Tottenham's League Cup win over Manchester City, and although Postecoglou initially downplayed the severity, he has now confirmed that Van de Ven won’t return until after the last international break of the year. This places his expected return about three weeks from now, in time for Tottenham’s trip to the Etihad to face Manchester City.

He continued, "He was disappointed, obviously. He was really looking forward to the game, so he was a bit emotional. Thankfully, it's not, knock on wood, a serious one like last time, which kept him out for quite a while. He'll work hard, and the good thing is that the international break gives us an extra two weeks, so hopefully, he won’t miss too much football."
In more positive news for Spurs, captain Son Heung-min is expected to return after missing the last two games due to injury.
There's also a strong likelihood that Timo Werner, who appeared to pick up an injury against Manchester City, will be available, along with Cristian Romero.

Villa have won three of their five Premier League matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, including each of the last two. Only Chelsea, with four victories, have secured more away league wins at the venue. With both teams chasing European football again, this game could be pivotal in their campaigns.
