Tottenham will take on Aston Villa this weekend with Ange Postecoglou under immense pressure after the Crystal Palace defeat.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou provided team updates, confirming that captain Son Heung-min, who has missed three of the first nine league games, will only play this weekend if he is able to train tomorrow.

Son missed the vital win against Manchester City, and Postecoglou revealed that while Mickey Van de Ven would be unavailable, Son was making progress and could be involved if he proves his fitness in training tomorrow.

Postecoglou told reporters: “The boys worked hard the other night. The main one is Micky—he has strained a hamstring. It’s not too serious, but it’s likely he’ll be back after the international break. The other players who were a bit sore are Romero and Werner, but at the moment, there’s still a chance for the weekend. Sonny trained today, so if he gets through training tomorrow, he should be okay.”

Spurs have had a strong run recently. Despite losing to Crystal Palace last week, they managed to beat Manchester City in the League Cup to reach the last eight. Before that, they defeated West Ham and AZ Alkmaar, making up for a disappointing defeat to Brighton, where they squandered a 2-0 lead before the international break.

They will face an Aston Villa side that has climbed into the top four of the Premier League and is enjoying an impressive run in the Champions League—a level Spurs aimed for but narrowly missed. This game provides the perfect opportunity for Spurs to get things right.

However, Villa has shown vulnerability, as evidenced by their League Cup defeat to Crystal Palace midweek and a disappointing draw with Bournemouth last week. With a heavy schedule, they may be susceptible, and Tottenham will be eager to secure a big result.
