Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie has been involved in a car accident after losing control of his Mercedes and crashing it into a bar in Udine on Wednesday night.

The 20-year-old is on loan from Spurs at Udinese and is reported to have been out with his friends and was only on his way back when the accident happened at around midnight. Police only arrived at the accident scene hours later.

According to a report on Football Italia, no one was hurt.

The owner of the restaurant is quoted by the website: “It looks like a bomb has exploded here.”

Pictures published by the local paper show the crash.

Udogie signed for Tottenham Hotspur last summer but has remained on loan at Udinese until the end of the season. His contract in North London expires in June 2027.

The 20-year-old has three goals and three assists in 26 appearances across all competitions this season.

Spurs signed the highly-rated defender last summer for £15 million with the aim of transforming him into a world beater in the next couple of seasons.

Udogie was Tottenham’s seventh summer signing following the arrivals of Ivan Perisic, Richarlison, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence.

It remains to be seen whether he will be back at Tottenham next season as the search for the club’s next manager is ongoing.

Cristian Stellini’s side are currently fifth on the Premier League table, just three behind fourth placed Manchester United with eight games to end the season.
