Tottenham showed signs of adapting to Ange Postecoglou’s style of play but ultimately fell to a 3-2 defeat to West Ham United in their first pre-season game of the summer.

Spurs looked entertaining and created lots of chances in a sign of what is to come if the players can polish their finishing and buy entirely into the new manager's style of play.

Spurs had the likes of Harry Kane and even new signing James Maddison in the starting lineup as they looked to build fitness, but surprisingly missing from the team entirely was returning midfielder Tanguy Ndombele who looked to have picked up a knock in training 24 hours prior the game.

The Australian manager confirmed that Ndombele was left out due to a knock while Son Heung-min needs to build up his fitness.

He is quoted by Football. London: “Tanguy took a knock in training yesterday and Son has only had two sessions.

“He had a good session today with Eric Dier, Djed Spence and Joe Rodon so they joined us late but will be getting better.”

West Ham took advantage of an entertaining start where Spurs could not defend to score two goals before the Lilywhites responded through Giovani Lo Celso and Destiny Udogie, but Gianluca Scamacca won it for the Hammers late on.

This was West Ham’s third game during pre-season while Tottenham are just getting started so not much will be read into the game- even though Ange Postecoglou will be determined to ensure his players do not get used to losing games.
