Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou says he’s had talks with striker Harry Kane and as long as he’s with the team will be focused on helping his teammates and the club.

The Australian manager will ironically take charge of his first official game for the club in his home country Australia after flying in there for pre-season.

Striker Harry Kane’s future is still up for discussion with Bayern Munich’s honorary president Uli Hoenes publicly making his moves on the three-time Golden Boot winner.

Spurs are looking to build from scratch again after what has been a tough last 12 months where they failed to qualify for any kind of European football for the first time since 2010 at the England of the last campaign.

But Postecoglou who is working to get his team in shape ahead of the new campaign says talks with Kane have been smooth and nothing earth-shattering.

He added: “I had a good chat with Harry. As I said before (in his first press conference), nothing earth-shattering or defining from I guess what people are seeking.

“Just a good chat. I introduced myself and we spoke mainly about the club and where he thinks it’s at and where he thinks we can improve things. (We’ve been) training ever since, it’s been good.”

Kane bagged 30 goals last season despite the challenges in north London and with just 47 goals to at least equal Alan Shearer’s Premier League record, it remains to be seen if he will want to move abroad.

Manchester United are also interested but are understandably looking at other options given how difficult it is to negotiate with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
