Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has been watching Tottenham training from a distance this week due to Covid.

The Spurs boss is already missing key players like Matt Doherty and Oliver Skipp, and his absence would have been a real downer for the team who have won their last four games and are marching towards Champions League football next season.

Star forward Harry Kane is looking happy and his combination with South Korean forward Son Heung-min is yielding record-breaking numbers of goals.

Tottenham’s recent form has come at a time when their direct rivals Arsenal have struggled.

The Gunners have lost three of their last four Premier League matches, which has served as a double boost for Spurs going into the last games of the season.

But all those positive vibes could have been halted if they had to take on a Brighton Hove and Albion side - buoyed by their 2-1 win at the Emirates - without their charismatic Italian manager.

The Spurs manager told a packed room of reporters that he had reacted quickly and demanded a test straight away after feeling “strange” earlier on in the week.

He revealed: “It was for sure a strange week for me and also the players, as they’re used to having training sessions with me.

“Not only with my staff. But it’s OK because my staff are doing a great job.

“I attended the sessions from a distance, and I think on Saturday I stay with my players on the bench.

“Given the length of time from my Covid test, I think I could stay on the bench on Saturday.”

The Tottenham manager also confirmed that the trio of Doherty, Tanganga and Skipp would not play a part on Saturday, as earlier reported by LondonWorld.

He added: “Yeah this is really bad news for us.

“You know very well Doherty’s improvement on our team.

“It’s a pity because to lose a player like him rest of season is not good for us.

“Also Tanganaga and Skipp are not available for us.

“Bad news for us in one on hand but on the other hand I think we have solutions to try and cope with situation until end of season.”
