Tottenham star Micky van de Ven has become one of the most important players at the North London club, albeit injuries have hampered the current season. The Dutch centre-back is known for his impressive pace, but he is also a more than competent centre-back, and still only 23 years of age, he is being backed for a career at the very top.
There have been some transfer links with some top tier clubs, and while a move this summer looks unlikely, Van de Ven looks to have what it takes to get such a move in the future, providing his hamstrings are kind to him over the years.

Van de Ven is a player that I absolutely love. I was actually so surprised that in the Euros Holland didn't play him more because he’s good enough to bet into the best Netherlands team. If you put him next to Van Dijk, it would have been a lot harder for us (England) in that semi-final.
“I don't think that it is fair to compare him with Van Dijk because he's totally different He's so much more explosive. I love him, he's so quick, he wants to defend. What a good buy from Spurs. What a buy. He can play left-back, can play left-center half, can play in a three.”
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has previously said of his centre-back: “Micky has been outstanding all year, and he’s growing all the time, we see it in training. The growth in him, his maturity, his physical capacity, there is just no ceiling for that guy. He was important today. We didn’t have to defend deep, they were going to try to play on the counter attack and there was going to be a lot of space, and that suits him because of his speed and ability to track people down. I thought he was really important today.”
One of Van de Ven’s best moments came in a super assist against Manchester United back in September, an assist that left Gary Neville saying: “Absolutely brilliant from van de Ven. One of the best runs I've ever seen from a centre-back.”

What amazed me is during the Euros this year, he couldn’t get into the Dutch team. I was shocked. I thought ‘hang on, how are they that good that he can’t get into the team?’ Surely they will find a place for him somewhere, if you played three at the back, or you could play him at left-back even. He looks a Rolls-Royce, proper player.
Spurs paid £34.5m to buy van de Ven, and that could prove one of their better investments over recent years.
