Tottenham agree second summer deal to protect interest but Leeds United 'talks' still ongoing for star

Tottenham have taken up the option to extend Joe Rodon’s contract according to a report on Football.London, but the Welsh defender could still leave the club this summer with Leeds United talks still ongoing behind the scenes.
Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga, Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon all left the club this week with Tottenham deciding against extending their stay in north London. Dier had already joined Bayern Munich in January and helped them reach the semi-final of the Champions League.

But Wales international Rodon who the club announced had signed a four-year deal when he first arrived in 2020 has seen the Lilywhites take up the option to extend his stay so they can get a fee for him as Leeds United and Southampton battle for his signature.
Ange Postecoglou has recently hinted he was looking to add another centre-back to the trio of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin, so Rodon is far from his plans.
The 24-year-old started 42 Championship games for Leeds and played in 43 in total in an outstanding campaign that saw them narrowly miss out on Premier League promotion.

“He should definitely be a priority for them and I would be holding talks if I were the club,” Paul Robinson recently told MOTLEEDS when asked about the future of the Rodon.
Tottenham have already agreed to extend the contract of Timo Werner and the decision to take up Rodon's extra year is the second summer deal so far with more expected in the coming days.
