Erik ten Hag has issued an update on one of Manchester United’s injured stars ahead of facing Tottenham.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has issued some positive injury news ahead of his side’s clash with Tottenham at Old Trafford on Sunday. The Red Devils have endured a slow start this season, much like Spurs, with the two sides sitting side by side in the table.

Injuries have not helped United, with a number of players missing the early weeks of the season, including Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund, although the latter two could be in line to return this weekend.

Yoro’s absence is a particularly frustrating one, given he was signed for a fee of around £52million to improve the back-line. Yoro required surgery on a broken metatarsal he suffered against Arsenal in a Stateside pre-season friendly. Yoro is said to be targeting a return in early December, with reports he could return for the Arsenal clash on December 3.

In the meantime, United boss Ten Hag has issued an update on the young defender’s recovery process, telling MUTV: “Yes, he is doing very well. It is very pleasing that his rehab is going in the right direction, and I expect him soon.

"But what I mean by soon is that he is now in the right planning process. He is in the right spot and he will return as soon as possible into the squad and then the team training."

Yoro on his Premier League jump

Speaking after completing his move to United, Yoro said: “The Premier League… this is where the football fully exists. So the fans, the level – because the level is crazy there, there is not an easy game – and, for me, the Premier League is the biggest in the world.

“You know, it’s one of the biggest stadiums in the world. To be honest, I’m really happy to be here. I’m really happy to play for this team and I’m really excited to see you in Old Trafford.”
