Spurs 'obsessed' with beating Chelsea, Man Utd and Newcastle United to £25m bagsman
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou is believed to be focusing his transfer energy in the hunt for a striker.
Tottenham Hotspur are set to compete with Premier League rivals Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle United in the pursuit of Lille striker Jonathan David this summer.

The 24-year-old plundered 19 goals in Ligue 1 last season and has emerged as one of the continent's most exciting striking prospects since joining Lille in 2020. David has 84 goals in 183 appearances for the French club and was part of the Ligue 1 title-winning campaign in 2021, as well as triumphing in the French Super Cup that year.
The forward has also proven his skills on the international stage, with 27 goals in 53 appearances for Canada. David was on the scoresheet over the weekend as Jesse Marsch's side fell to a penalty shoot-out defeat in a Copa America third-place play-off with Uruguay just days after losing to Lionel Messi’s Argentina in the semi-final.
The player has another year left on his Lille contract and spoke about his future while at the Copa America, amid transfer interest from the trio of Premier League sides. David said: “There’s always a lot of noise. But I’m still here. I’m still at Lille. From there, we’ll see if I end up going back to Lille for preseason, or if I’m somewhere else, I don’t know.
“Things are obviously moving slow. I think things are going at the right pace. Obviously, I think everyone sees there’s a lot of clubs interested. Right now I’m still waiting for an offer to be put on the table to Lille. Then after, I’ll have to make a choice and make the right choice, whether it’s to leave, or to stay or what team do I pick, really.”

Manchester United have been credited with transfer interest in David for the past 12 months, while David has also been added to Chelsea's long list of potential goalscoring additions. TEAMtalk added Newcastle United as a potential suitor last week - the Magpies have seen both Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson linked with exits from St James' Park this transfer window.
However, transfer specialist Pete O'Rourke reports that Spurs are also in the race and are readying a £25 million bid as manager Ange Postecoglou becomes 'obsessed' with the transfer hunt for a new talisman.
