Tottenham defender Eric Dier will look to leave the club in Janaury transfer window after failing to play a minute under Ange Postecoglou in the league so far.

The 29-year-old missed the terrific 2-1 win over Liverpool due to illness but there are strong indications that he is not part of Ange Postecoglou’s plan and both player and club will look to go separate ways in the winter.

Ideally Spurs would want to get something for the defender but with his contract up in the summer, it remains to be seen if a loan deal that sees them get his wages off the bill or an outright sale will materilase.

Dier was a regular under ex-boss Antonio Conte but has fallen out of favour under new manager Ange Postecoglou. There are reports that Jose Mourinho would be willing to re-unite with him if the deal was right but as things stand, he is not getting minutes in north London and his chances of playing for England at the Euros are dinishing by the week.

The arrival of the impressive Micky van de Van has pushed Dier down the pecking order and seems like both player and club have outgrown each other.

Tottenham have had a strong start to the season evidenced by their second-placed spot in the Premier League and the feeling within the club is that they are going places with a brand a football that excites fans.
