A look at the players who are most likely to leave Tottenham this season.

Tottenham have a huge summer ahead, likely needing to add significant quality to their squad if they want to compete for the European places next season. Whether or not Ange Postecoglou will still be in place remains to be seen, but the North London side need to back whatever manager is in place if they want to bounce back from a forgettable campaign.

Though, players will also have to leave the club to make room for the addition of more quality players, and with that in mind, we have taken a look at the players who are likely to leave Tottenham this season, along with those who are less likely to depart.

Tottenham will say goodbye to Sergio Reguillon at the end of his contract, with the Spaniard having had a strange time at Spurs overall. With Reguillon having played a limited role over recent years, spending time out on loan, he is destined to leave.

Elsewhere, Timo Werner will be headed back to RB Leipzig, with Tottenham extremely unlikely to activate their option to buy the German. Ange Postecoglou has called out the forward a few times for his application, and his form has not been good enough to warrant a permanent deal.

Fraser Forster’s time at the club is surely coming to an end as he approaches the end of his contract. The 37-year-old deputised for Vicario at times this season and looked nowhere near good enough. It’s all well and good having a veteran English keeper on the books to help with squad rules, but he still has to be good enough to step in when needed, however rarely.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is out on loan with Marseille and not likely to return, at least not for long, while Manor Solomon is with Leeds United and does not look to have a future at the club, now 25 years of age. There will be an interesting decision to make with Bryan Gil, who has done well with Girona on loan, albeit is now out for the season with a knee injury. Spurs will likely be hoping for interest from Spain so that they can sell him for a good price.

The 4 players who probably won’t leave Tottenham this summer

Yves Bissouma has come in for plenty of criticism, but he is still unlikely to leave, with Ange Postecoglou evidently a big fan. Bissouma is still only 28 years of age, and Spurs are more likely to try to turn his form around than sell. Cristian Romero has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, but there are sexier signings out there, for lack of a better word, such as Dean Huijsen, who has been impressing with Bournemouth and Spain. For what Spurs will ask for to sell Romero, it’s likely clubs like Los Blancos will look elsewhere.

Djed Spence has been linked with an exit in the past, but he looks to have sufficiently convinced over recent months, perhaps turning his Tottenham career around. Elsewhere, Ben Davies is out of contract, and while he is 31 years of age, he is still competent at Premier League level, and his ability to play across the back line makes him more than useful, on top of the fact he is a senior leader in the squad. If Spurs can agree a contract that suits both sides, Davies will be more expensive to replace than to allow to leave, even if he isn’t a regular starter next season.
