More than 1,700 Tottenham fans have travelled to France for the crucial Champions League game against Marseille with the Lillywhites in search of result to progress to the next stage of the competition.

The Lillywhites were expected to seal qualification before the game away to Marseille but defeat to Sporting away and a draw at home has disrupted plans and now they have work to do in France if they are to avoid a disaster.

L’equipe is reporting that Tottenham have a total of 1,700 fans who will be at the stadium even though more are expected to watch from pubs around the Velodrome.  Tottenham manager Antonio Conte is also suspended from the touch line having received a late red card in the draw with Sporting last week.

Group D is still open with every team still in with a chance to qualify to the next stage of the competition including Marseille who are bottom of the table with six points. Spurs are top with eight but both Sporting and Frankfurt have seven points.

Tottenham showed brilliant character to come back from two goals down to win against Bournemouth over the weekend and will need to stop giving themselves work to do by going a goal down before turning things around in the second half of games.

Tottenham have been a goal down in eight of their last 11 games and even though they have rescued the games in most of the times, the stakes are too high and they will need to be almost spotless if they are to top the group and progress to the next round.
