Manchester United will go nine points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham if they can get all three points against the Lilywhites on Thursday evening in the Premier League.

A win will strengthen Erik ten Hag’s side's grip on third place and almost certaintly secure Champions League football for next season.

The Reds secured a vital penalty win against Brighton and Hove Albion at Wembley over the weekend and will arrive in north London full of confidence even though Portuguese star Bruno Fernandes did not take part in training on Tuesday according to the Manchester Evening News.

The midfielder suffered an ankle injury in the Brighton game, and Ana Pinho, Fernandes’ wife, posted a photo on her Instagram story on Monday evening which showed Fernandes sitting on a sofa with his right leg elevated on a stack of cushions.

Tottenham will be under a new manager after Ryan Mason was confirmed as the Acting Head Coach of the club, taking over from Cristian Stellini who stayed behind following the dismissal of Antonio Conte.

In what has been a troubled week for the north London club, they were thumped 6-1 by fellow top-four chasing Newcastle United which has led players to decide to reimburse the traveling fans after the embarrassing performance.

The game against Manchester United is the beginning of a challenging run of games with Liverpool, Crystal Palace, and a trip to Villa Park all on the horizon for the Lilywhites.

Tottenham will also still be without midfielder duo Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur and even though defender Emerson Royal is back in training, he is still also likely to sit out this one.
