August 10, 2023 was a dark day for supporters of Tottenham Hotspur. It marked the occasion where their all-time leading goal scorer and club legend Karry Kane officially departed the club to join Bayern Munich for a fee of £82 million plus add ons - replacing such a cherished player will be an almost insurmountable task.

However, in this piece, we'll take a look at how the 30-year-old has been performing since he joined the Allianz Arena. His debut for the club was a disappointing one - but he has grown from strength to strength since his initial outing. At Spurs, he tended to drop deep and play cutting passes to his teammates - at Bayern, he has become more of an out-and-out poacher.

So far this season, Kane has scored an astronomical 25 goals over the course of 22 appearances in all competitions. In this time, he has also managed to rack up eight assists. He is also outperforming his xG, of which he has a total of 15.1 and a non-penalty xG of 12.8 (both of which are the highest in the Bundesliga this season). Suffice to say, Kane has taken the Bundesliga by storm.

Is Harry Kane the best striker in the world right now?

As things stand, there are two strikers who you could arguably call the 'best in the world'. Kane is one of them - the other is Manchester City's Erling Haaland. Nevertheless, Kane is certainly outscoring the Norwegian as things stand - Haaland has scored 19 goals over the course of 22 competitive appearances this season, alongside five assists.

Aged 23, Haaland still has his best years ahead of him, while Kane in his prime. Due to this, it is perhaps unfair to compare the two directly - but nevertheless, Kane remains as the top goal scorer across all of Europe's top five divisions. Only Kylian Mbappe, with his tally of 18 goals and two assists in Ligue 1, comes close.
