Tottenham Hotspur supporters held more anger for the state of operations at their club rather than towards the departing Italian boss.

Tottenham Hotspur fans have shared messages of goodwill to Antonio Conte as the Italian becomes the latest Spurs manager to depart the club without a piece of silverware.

The North London club confirmed the news late on Sunday night after a week of speculation that the manager would be relieved of his duties following a controversial post-match press conference at St Mary's Stadium earlier this month.

Conte blasted 'selfish' players and a directionless board when speaking to the press in what proved a fatal moment in his relationship with Daniel Levy and Tottenham Hotspur.

Reacting to the news of Conte's departure 'by mutual agreement' on social media last night, Spurs fans lamented another failed relationship between manager and club.

One wrote: "There it is. So much optimism before this season. Antonio worked wonders to get us back to UCL last season.

"Really thought it would work. No bad blood, regardless of past few weeks. He wasn’t the issue.

"Wish him the best personally and professionally in future - Spurs march on."

Others echoed those thoughts and wished Conte well, sharing regrets that it hadn't come to a happier ending at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

One supporter replied: "Sad to see Conte go. I was so excited when he joined and really thought we would push on.

"Ultimately it went the way everyone predicted, we need to push on now and get behind the next manager."

Another added: "Thank you Antonio for everything that you have done for the club, there were a lot of good memories that you gave us throughout your time like the win against City last and the chase for top four last season, unfortunately, things didn't work out at the end."

It wasn't just Tottenham fans who shared opinions on Conte after the news was confirmed online.

A few noisy neighbours from the Emirates Stadium stopped by to gloat about Arsenal's current form while other fans sympathised with Tottenham supporters over ongoings at the club.

One Manchester United fan wrote: "Once Spurs sacked Mourinho right before the League Cup final, I knew there was something fundamentally wrong.

"Going through Mourinho and Conte and not winning anything is unique. I feel for Spurs fans, you all are going through it!"

An official Tottenham Hotspur statement last night was short and to the point as the club confirmed that a 'mutual agreement' had been reached with the former Chelsea boss.

It read: "We can announce that Head Coach Antonio Conte has left the Club by mutual agreement. We achieved Champions League qualification in Antonio’s first season at the Club. We thank Antonio for his contribution and wish him well for the future.

"Cristian Stellini will take the team as Acting Head Coach for the remainder of the season, along with Ryan Mason as Assistant Head Coach."

Daniel Levy also added a comment to the statement, although didn't touch on Conte and his time at the club, focusing on the rest of the season.

Levy said: “We have 10 Premier League games remaining and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place. We all need to pull together. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our Club and amazing, loyal supporters.”
