Harry Kane has been warned against one of the dangers of leaving Tottenham this summer.

Harry Kane has been warned to be aware of an ‘embarrassing’ scenario amid talk of a Tottenham exit.

Kane has been heavily linked with a move away from Spurs this summer as he looks to fulfil his dream of winning major trophies. The striker has often admitted that he wants to win silverware before he hangs up his boots, and Tottenham haven’t offered him the opportunity to fulfil that dream, largely lagging behind the very top clubs in the Premier League and Europe.

Due to turn 30 at the end of July, Kane is running out of time to win trophies, at least if he wants to do it in his prime, but Tottenham are not making it easy.

Despite heading into the last year of his contract, Tottenham are refusing to let Kane join a Premier League club for anywhere near a reasonable price, and that has sparked interest abroad. Bayern Munich are now said to be leading the charge, and ahead of a possible move, former England star Glen Johnson was warned Kane against the danger of moving and failing to fulfil his dream elsewhere.

“Everybody gives Harry stick for not winning trophies, so if he leaves Tottenham and doesn’t win anything, then it’s even more embarrassing,” Johnson told Betfred. “It’s a risky one. If Harry does move to Germany, then he is more than likely to win the Bundesliga and go far in the Champions League, so wherever he goes next, he needs to know that he’s going to win something.

“The only reason why Harry would give up on the prospect of becoming the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer is to win trophies outside of England, which is a decision everybody would admire. For Harry to move himself and his family to a foreign country wouldn’t be an easy thing to do, but it would be a great sign of ambition from him.

“He just needs to decide what’s more important to him right now, breaking the Premier League’s goalscoring record, which is something he will do if he stays in England, or go to Bayern and try and win the Bundesliga or the Champions League. He needs to figure out what’s more important.”
