Former Tottenham star could miss out on England Nations League games against Greece and Finland with injury

Harry Kane could be absent for England’s upcoming Nations League games.

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane could miss out on England’s Nations League games against Greece and Finland during the ongoing international break, after he suffered an injury during Bayern Munich’s 3-3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend.

The 31-year-old was brought off in the 72nd minute of that game for Mathys Tel, following a clash with Eintracht defender Tuta. Currently, his injury status is unknown with a ‘more precise diagnosis’ set to come from the Football Association. As things stand, Kane has failed to find the back of the net in Bayern’s last three competitive outings - an injury at such a time will do little to ease his frustration.

A statement on Bayern’s official club website reads: “Harry Kane, who was substituted during the game, travelled directly from Frankfurt to the England camp, where he was examined by the FA's medical staff. A more precise diagnosis is still pending.”

Who can replace Harry Kane in the England team?

As such, this begs the question - who will replace the Spurs legend in England’s line-up? Thankfully, Three Lions boss Lee Carsley is not short of options.

Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins is the obvious choice - he hasn’t been at his best so far this season, but he has shown that he is more than capable of delivering in an England shirt.

We could see Carsley move from a former Spurs star over to a current one - Dominic Solanke has not had the brightest start to the 2024/25 campaign, but has recently begun to pick up steam with two goals in his last three Premier League encounters.

Of course, if Kane’s injury is not particularly serious, then this may all be a moot point - even in games such as this, where experimentation would be welcomed, the Spurs icon’s spot in the England squad is cemented.
