Crystal Palace defender Marc Geuhi is a doubt for their Premier League visit to Aston Villa this weekend after aggravating a hip injury on international duty.

Geuhi had been carrying the injury while at Palace but he had to be replaced halfway in the game against Scotland with reports he could have done more damage.

According to a report on the Evening Standard, there is a huge chance he could miss the game this weekend in a blow to Roy Hodgson’s plan this weekend.

Both Palace and England are hoping that the damage done is not serious as he’s grown to be a pivotal member of the Eagles team that has had a decent start to life in the Premier League so far.

Guehi is expected to be assessed later today as players return from the international break but this could be an opportunity for Rob Holding, who joined on transfer deadline day from Arsenal for £3.5m, could also make the matchday squad for the first time.

Guehi has developed into a top defender since he moved from Chelsea to Palace two seasons ago and this summer was linked with a switch to both north London giants Arsenal and Tottenham.

An injury to the England defender at this time of the season will mean manager Roy Hodgson has to move things around with interesting games against Fulham and a doubleheader against Manchester United coming up after the Villa game this weekend.
