Europa League prize money and how much Tottenham will win if they secure Champions League qualification

Tottenham are now edging closer to a first Europa League title after qualifying for the semi-final on Thursday night. Spurs defeated Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany, winning 1-0 thanks to Dominic Solanke’s first-half penalty.
Spurs will face Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt in the semi-final, and while they stunned Lazio in the quarter-final, ultimately winning on penalties, Tottenham should be confident of progressing to the Bilbao final, where they would face hosts Athletic Club or Manchester United.

How much prize money will Tottenham win if the win the Europa League?
Strictly speaking, the prize money for winning the Europa League is £5million, but Tottenham will have won much more than that if they do end up going all the way and lifting the trophy in Bilbao.
UEFA awards prize money for qualification to each round, and by the time a team wins the final, they would rack up a total earnings of £21.852million from the Europa League. Interestingly, a team receives as much as £5.9million just for reaching the final, so if we include qualifying for the final and winning it, the total earnings from the final would be £10.9million.
That is a significant increase on last season’s prize fund, with a £2million increase on the reward money just for reaching the final from last term. On top of all that, it’s worth keeping in mind that , this season, clubs earned £15.6million for qualifying for the Champions League league stage. Tottenham would qualify for next season’s Champions League if they were to win the Europa League, meaning a potential total price return of £37.452million if that is factored in.

Hide AdPostecoglou on Tottenham’s chances
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou said of his side’s chances of winning the Europa League after the win in Frankfurt: “Look, we can’t get too far ahead of ourselves. We’re in the semi-final and will play a difficult opponent in the semi, but it’s not about my belief in the team. What’s more important is the belief the team has had because after a season like ours, it would be very easy for the players and staff, they could have left me in a pretty vulnerable place in terms of them splintering, but I’ve never felt that (even) with all the noise around our season.
“They’ve been so united in believing in what we’re trying to achieve here and that is what gave me heart all along that if we got our own slice of luck in terms of getting some players back that I really believed this team could achieve. That is what keeps driving me. It isn’t so much my belief in them, it’s their belief in what we’re doing and both players and staff have been outstanding.
“I am the front man for it but they take responsibility for it as well and all my decisions and everything I do, but not at any stage have I felt they lost any belief in me or what we’re doing. That is crucial when you’re having a difficult season, but there is also a season of opportunity there."
