Defender gets A+, forward gets E - Every Tottenham signing from this season graded
We grade Tottenham’s signings from the 2025/26 season as the North London club begin preparations for next season.
Tottenham will already be looking to next season after securing their first silverware in 17 years. Spurs won the Europa League thanks to a final win over Manchester United, securing qualification for next season’s Champions League in the process.

Preparations for next season will begin now, but Spurs will need to look back to look forward, needing to learn from any recent transfer mistakes they may have made. With that in mind, we have graded all of Tottenham’s transfer business from the season just gone, including all the first-team incomings from the summer and January.
Lucas Bergvall - A
Bergvall may not have had an A-grade impact yet, but he is a talented young player with a big upset, and for just £8.5million, this looks like being a steal of a deal from Tottenham. Even if Bergvall doesn’t end up being a first team star for Spurs, he will be sold for at least double that fee on his current trajectory.
Archie Gray - A+
Another great young signing, Gray arrived on a much bigger fee of £40million, but at just 19 years of age, it’s clear he is an elite talent. Gray has had to play much of this season out of position at centre-back, while he is also able to play at full-back and in his best position, centre-midfield. Gray has immense potential and he has already shown his ability to compete in the Premier League despite his youth.
Dominic Solanke - C
Solanke may yet come good, and he is a smart signing for a team trying to replace Harry Kane, who is a similar player in many ways, albeit a far more natural goalscorer. But at £65million, we have to judge this one by immediate impact, and Solanke has not made a huge one, scoring nine goals in 27 league games. Injuries have been an issue and there is more to come from Solanke, but he hasn’t justified that huge fee just yet.
Wilson Odobert - C
Odobert arrived for £25million and he has only been a supplementary role so far, but he is only 20 years of age. The winger’s first season at the club, or at least the first half of it, was marred by a hamstring injury, and there is clearly more to come as he looks to prove his potential at Spurs going forward, but up to now, a C is the best we can give.
Antonin Kinsky - A
Kinsky was signed due to a clear need Tottenham had at the goalkeeper position, with Fraser Forster clearly not good enough at this stage of his career. Kinsky made an immediate impact after arriving for £12.5million, and that fee looks like it could prove to be a bargain. Spurs fans know what it’s like to not have a good enough back-up from the first-half of the season, but after seeing Kinsky in action, they will now feel much more confident if Vicario misses time. That was the purpose of the signing and, combined with the fee, that makes it a strong signing.
Timo Werner - E
Werner looked like he could be a bargain loan deal with an option to buy, but he did not produce for Tottenham. Werner scored two goals in 31 league appearances and Postecoglou called him out for his lack of application in some games, setting a poor example for young players. That’s a clear negative impact and the deal will go down as a failure as a result.
Kevin Danso - B
This is a tough one. Danso has been steady when called upon, but there are questions over whether he can be a starting calibre centre-back for Spurs. Tottenham have an obligation to buy worth just over £20million, although they can get out of it with a penalty fee. Ultimately, Spurs needed cover and Danso provided it, and at a better level than Radu Dragusin, for example, provided. On that basis, he gets a B.
Mathys Tel - C
Tel scored twice and assisted once in 13 Premier League games for Tottenham. The winger is only 20 years of age, which makes this one a tough grade. It was always going to be hard for such a young player to make a big impact for a struggling team while joining halfway through the season and coming into a new league. Tel didn’t have a big impact, but he was always a long-term signing, hence the option to buy Spurs worked hard to agree, and the circumstances mentioned means he gets a C.
