Tottenham managed to pick up a valuable three points against Manchester United on Sunday, and in style. Spurs had put together a disappointing start to the season, but their big performance at Old Trafford allowed them to put a different spin on the situation as they look to continue improving.

There were a number of big performances on the day, with James Maddison continuing to dazzle, while Micky van de Ven looked unstoppable on and off the ball, still lighting up the Premier League with his pace.
But there is one player who is not impressing, according to pundit Jamie Carragher, and not just on the back of the United win. Cristian Romero is that player, with the centre-back still not reaching the required standard, according to the former Liverpool defender.
“You look at the back four and you go they’re good players them. The right-back is alright, Udogie did really well last season. Romero is a World Cup winner and everyone things van de Ven is amazing, lightning quick, every time you watch him it’s ‘oh, he’s a brilliant player,'” Carragher said on Sky Sports’ The Overlap podcast.

Jamie Redknapp has also been critical of Romero recently, citing the Argentine as one of the causes for Tottenham’s perceived weakness when it comes to defending set-pieces: “Teams pray on Vicario’s weakness from set-pieces – because people have seen Vicario’s weakness, they stick loads of players in front of him.
“Tottenham, they have gone for man-to-man so they are all obsessed with their players and it is a little bit selfish. Yes, Romero is good at kicking people, but when it comes to stuff like that he has got to do better.”
