Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has done something the club’s last four managers have failed to do, and that is to beat Liverpool at home.

Tottenham beat Liverpool for the first time since moving to their new stadium and ended Liverpool’s unbeaten start to the season.

The win which was secured thanks to a late Joel Matip own goal also means Spurs remain unbeaten in the league so far, and they jump ahead of Arsenal into second place, one point behind Manchester City.

Manager Ange Postecoglou came into the game with a 51-game unbeaten at home in the league and kept that intact with the win and a brand of football that excites the fans.

Ex-Tottenham midfielder Sandro Raniere who was a guest for the game admitted he loves what he’s seeing and the new playing style.

He said during his halftime interview: “I love this team and I see a 2-1 for us because for me this is home and they are brave and very beautiful.

“The fans made me feel really good from the first minute I stepped here and for me this is good and seeing what the big man is doing makes it quite exciting now.”

Tottenham's win means they have now gone seven games into the league season without a defeat for only the third time in history. Tottenham captain Son Heung-min has now scored his 200th goal in Europe with the strike that put the Lilywhites ahead in the game against Liverpool.

Manager Ange Postecoglou would also be proud of how his team showed admirable patience even when the clock was running down and his team needed a win against nine men. He’s insisted that they stick to their principles and that would have pleased him.
