He is expected to play a part when they travel to Tottenham this week even though it remains to be determined how fit he will be.

He was fit enough though to speak to the press after the game. He's quoted by Birminghammail. co. UK: "The campaign's been amazing. I'm just so proud of the way the boys have handled it. We have a team and a group of players that the country are so proud of and I think that showed at the end.

"I think the punters were a bit surprised we had actually qualified, it had a strange atmosphere, but it's hopefully one we can get used to."

Tottenham lost their last two games heading into the international break and will face a stiff test when they host high-flying Aston Villa at home.

The Lilywhites also have James Maddison and Micky van de Ven injured but will hope to have Destiny Udogie returning after he served his suspension for his sending-off against Chelsea.

Spurs will also be without Yves Bissouma who will now miss the game due to the accumulation of yellow cards.
