Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou could start summer signing Brennan Johnson against Chelsea after his bright cameo against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Friday evening.

The former Nottingham Forest man is being tipped to have a stellar career in north London with his pace and technique a unique skill to have.

He’s had a few off the bench games since signing but he started the game against Arsenal and picked up an injury that kept him out of two games and the international break.

But he announced his return to full fitness with an assist that eventually helped Spurs to a 2-1 win against Palace at Selhurst.

Tottenham have been quite impressive given they have won eight of their first 10 league games and drawn two, leaving them top of the league and making them just one of two unbeaten teams so far this campaign.

Johnson was an interesting member of the Forest team that stayed and there have been instances where he’s been lightning whenever he’s brought into games.

Everyone at Tottenham is waiting for him to come alive and the game against Chelsea is expected to be a wild tactical battle that normally brings the best out of manager Postecoglou.

The Australian is closing in on almost 50 home league games without a defeat and his ability to instantly transform teams he’s been at has been a gift to a club that had been struggling to find its feet since the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino in 2019.
