Ironically Maddison will come up against his former team Leicester in Bangkok tomorrow as they look to get into shape ahead of the fast-approaching Premier League campaign.

Having been signed for a fee in the region of £40million and beating competition from Newcastle, Ange says Maddison is at a stage in his career where he has authority and presence.

He is quoted by Football.London: “Obviously a very talented footballer. Really highly motivated, I think he’s got to a stage of his career where he’s got a little bit of authority and maturity on the pitch as well so you can see him wanting to be a presence around the players.

“Considering he’s only been with us for a few weeks he’s had a real positive influence. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with him. I know everyone has been impressed with him on and off the field.

Tottenham began their pre-season campaign in north London where they focused on fitness before flying out to Australia to take on West Ham in a 3-2 defeat.

The game against Leicester is the second in line before they head to Singapore to play Lion City. They will then have Shakhtar Donetsk and Barcelona before the new season comes.
