The England international will undergo a medical on Thursday ahead of finalising his departure.

Southampton have agreed a fee in the region of £18million plus around £7million in add-ons to sign goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, LondonWorld understands.

The newly-promoted side reopened negotiations with Arsenal over signing Ramsdale after a deal for Feyenoord shot stopper Justin Bijlow fell through.

Ramsdale became Arsenal's most expensive goalkeeper signing when he joined from Sheffield United for a fee of £30million in August 2021.

The 26-year-old has made 89 appearances for the Gunners but only played in six Premier League matches last season, after losing his position to David Raya.

Mikel Arteta’s side have signed David Raya, Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino so far this summer and are hoping to add a goalkeeper and forward before the deadline on August 30.

Espanyol shot stopper Joan Garcia is a firm target, as exclusively revealed in June, with Arsenal now working on a deal to sign the Spaniard.

“We are really happy with the squad,” said Arteta after the win over Aston Villa.

“It’s true we had an injury with Gabriel Jesus and we missed him. We are a little bit short and if we can do something then we will do it.”

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are expected to announce the signing of Eddie Nketiah before the end of the week.

Nketiah is joining Oliver Glasner’s side in a deal worth £25million after a fee was agreed with Arsenal.
