Next QPR manager set for £10m boost amid Tottenham and Newcastle United transfer talk
QPR are set to land a financial windfall if Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze is sold this summer.
QPR are set to benefit financially should Crystal Palace sanction the sale of forward Eberechi Eze this summer with several Premier League clubs linked with a swoop for the England international.

The 26-year-old moved from Loftus Road to Selhurst Park for £17 million in 2020 and has since flourished in south London. Eze scored an acclaimed strike from distance in the FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa last weekend and is thought to be a transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Manchester City and the Villains this summer.
QPR are known to have inserted a 20% sell-on clause into the agreement that saw Eze move to Crystal Palace five years ago. The Championship outfit thought they may see that money come in last summer as transfer talk swirled around Eze, however the player stayed at Selhurst Park with Steve Parish admitting he was surprised not to have received formal offers.
Eberechi Eze has ‘expressed’ desire to leave Crystal Palace
However, a fresh report from TBR Football claims that Eze has ‘expressed’ his desire to make a move a reality this summer. Chief correspondent Graeme Bailey this week wrote: “Much will depend on Palace’s demands around his release clause, very few are needed to be paid in one lump sum and I don’t believe that Palace will do that to Eze either.
“Tottenham love the player, we know that – but they are not alone – Manchester City like him a lot, I am told that Pep Guardiola is an admirer. City are looking at bolstering their attacking midfield ranks but Florian Wirtz is ahead of him in that regard, and I believe so are Lucas Paqueta, Charles De Ketelaere and Francisco Trincao but I would not dismiss it totally.
“Newcastle and Aston Villa also admire him, and if he does go – it will be a team playing in Europe. Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are all fully aware of him and are fans of his talents, but I don’t believe he is a priority for them as it stands. Eze for his part feels the time is right to move and has expressed this to Palace.”
Fichajes claimed last month that it would take £50 million to convince Crystal Palace to sell, which would equate to a £10 million cash injection for QPR. That could be a boost for the next R’s manager, with Marti Cifuentes expected to leave the club this summer.
QPR could benefit from £10m transfer windfall
The Catalan head coach has been placed on ‘gardening leave’ for this weekend’s meeting with Sunderland as the Championship season draws to a close. Cifuentes’ representatives reportedly entered talks with West Brom over the vacant managerial role at the Hawthorns in a situation that QPR chief executive Christian Nourry described as ‘disappointing’.
Former Wolves boss Gary O’Neil and Tottenham Hotspur coach Ryan Mason have been linked with the QPR job, as well as Newcastle United assistant Jason Tindall. It remains to be seen how much QPR will spend this summer but a £10 million financial boost would certainly help recruitment.
Speaking after defeat to Swansea City last month, Cifuentes suggested that talks about the window were yet to take place. He said: “I need to sit with Christian and we need to decide and see what is the plan and what does he want and what is the idea. I've been very focused on trying to achieve the target and obviously have my thoughts and my ideas on how we can improve.”
