Marti Cifuentes could soon welcome back QPR’s most influential attacking force.

QPR teased a huge double injury boost on Wednesday evening in a cryptic social media post ahead of Championship meetings with Blackburn Rovers and Hull City.

It's been a solid if not enthralling start to the campaign for Marti Cifuentes and the R's so far. The London outfit are unbeaten in their last five league fixtures but have just one win to their name after the opening six matches.

QPR picked up a point against Millwall last weekend at Loftus Road and are on the travels again come Saturday with a trip to Ewood Park. There's more action just days later too with Hull City visiting Loftus Road next Tuesday.

Ilias Chair close to injury return

So far this season, Cifuentes has had to make do without last year's star man Ilias Chair. The Moroccan scored seven goals and grabbed eight assists in the Championship last term but is yet to play this season due to a back injury.

Chair had been involved in pre-season preparations but was absent from friendlies against Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton and Reading before the start of the campaign. Speaking on that injury last month, Cifuentes said: “Perhaps we thought it could be less aggressive, but unfortunately it’s a lower back issue that will keep him away for some more weeks.

“I said we were waiting for some tests – and unfortunately the tests showed the development is more or less as we expected. I’m always optimistic and thought it might be a faster process, but the reality is that it’s a bone bruise and it takes time.”

QPR share cryptic social media post

Cifuentes has been coy with any updates over the player's return but in a post on social media platform X, the official QPR account shared a video of Chair back in training with the first team squad along with the caption, "Look who's back in training".

The return of Chair would be a big boost for QPR, even with the additions of wingers Kader Dembélé and Koko Saito. Cifuentes has also been short of options at centre-back in recent weeks, having to deploy midfielder Sam Field in that role.

Jake Clarke-Salter has since returned to ease some worries but summer signing Liam Morrison remains sidelined. Defender Morgan Fox had also been absent all season but was included in that short video shared on Wednesday, suggesting a return in the not-too-distant future.
