John Eustace was dealt several injury boosts ahead of facing Preston North End last time out. Having all missed out against Bristol City, Callum Brittain, Harry Pickering, Arnor Sigurdsson and Harry Leonard were all deemed fit again and ready to feature.

Defender Scott Wharton remains a long term injury and won't be in action against QPR. The 26-year-old is nursing a serious cruciate ligament injury and won't return to the New Year.

The big news this week is that Liverpool loanee Owen Beck will serve a three-match suspension for his red card picked up against Preston in the melee that appeared to see him bitten by Milutin Osmajic - that controversial moment set the internet talking with the FA expected to take further action. Beck won't see minutes against QPR this weekend or against Coventry City and Plymouth Argyle.

Sam Field and Jake Clarke-Salter were both fit enough to start against Millwall last weekend having bounced back from their own fitness worries and came through the London derby unscathed.

There's still no sign of centre-back Liam Morrison though, who missed out on the recent international break for Scotland due to a knee problem. Marti Cifuentes has been cryptic on a return time frame for the player but a sudden return against Blackburn seems unlikely.

Jack Colback missed out of last week's Carabao Cup action against Crystal Palace due to a knock but had been expected to return against Millwall. The midfielder didn't make the matchday squad in the end so can still be considered a doubt. Rayan Kolli is also being eased back following Algeria under-20 duty.

The influential Ilias Chair remains a longer term absentee. The Morocco international is yet to feature this term after picking up an injury during pre-season preparations. There are yet to be any suggestions that the 26-year-old, who registered seven goals and eight assists last term, is close to an imminent return.

Chair had been involved in pre-season preparations but was absent from friendlies against Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton and Reading. Speaking on that injury last month, Cifuentes said: “Perhaps we thought it could be less aggressive, but unfortunately it’s a lower back issue that will keep him away for some more weeks.

“I said we were waiting for some tests – and unfortunately the tests showed the development is more or less as we expected. I’m always optimistic and thought it might be a faster process, but the reality is that it’s a bone bruise and it takes time.”

Defender Morgan Fox is another who is yet to feature in a matchday squad with an ongoing injury problem.
