QPR stars heralded by L'Equipe for Sunderland and Kilmarnock showings but outlet slammed for major gaffe
The QPR midfielder and Dundee FC loan star were selected alongside some of European football’s biggest names.
Two QPR players have been heralded for their performances over the weekend by French football publication L'Equipe and awarded a place in the website’s Team of the Week.
The outlet keeps an eye on French football stars across the world each weekend and puts together a starting XI of players who turned in particularly impressive performances at club level. R's goalkeeper Paul Nardi featured in one side earlier this season but it is now two other familiar names who have cropped up.
The first is midfielder Jonathan Varane. The 23-year-old has endured a hit-and-miss start since arriving at Loftus Road from Sporting Gijon this summer but put in a purring performance as Marti Cifuentes' men picked up a point in a 0-0 draw against Sunderland on Saturday.
It was Varane's best showing in a QPR shirt so far and the player was awarded an 8/10 by LondonWorld at the weekend. We wrote: "Comfortably his best showing in a QPR shirt. That was an industrious performance which shows why Cifuentes was so keen to bring him here. Does need to work on his shooting on the training ground if going to insist on blasting over from distance."

Varane was selected alongside Juventus star Khéphren Thuram and Atletico Madrid superstar Antoine Griezmann in midfield. Technically, he wasn't the only QPR player in the L'Equipe XI either.
There was a familiar name in defence for QPR fans with Ziyad Larkeche selected by the publication at left-back. The 22-year-old is still an R's player with a year and a half left on his contract, but is spending this season on loan at Dundee having completed a move to Scotland in July.
The former Fulham man is seeing plenty of game time under Tony Docherty and starred as Dundee came from 2-0 down to beat Kilmarnock 3-2 at the weekend.
Larkeche scored his third goal for the club with a 94th minute winner to bag three points. However, his inclusion sparked controversy in Scotland due to the fact that L'Equipe used the crest of fierce rivals Dundee United instead of Dundee FC.
The Scottish Sun labelled the blunder a 'cock-up' while Dundee FC themselves even reacted disapprovingly to the error online. One fan online wrote: “L'Equipe get a 0/10 rating on this one.”
