QPR transfer hits snag as Millwall confirmed to have dealt Middlesbrough blow - round-up
Millwall confirmed the signing of Alfie Doughty this week and that came as a blow to a Championship rival.
QPR are expected to complete the signing of FC Schalke striker Pape Meissa Ba this summer but the move has hit a small snag ahead of the Championship season.

The R’s are reported to have agreed a €500,000 deal to bring the player to Loftus Road, just six months after he moved to the 2. Bundesliga club from Grenoble. The 28-year-old scored two goals and picked up two assists in 13 outings for the team.
QPR are in the market for additional firepower with Zan Celar and Michael Frey struggling to carry the load last season amid injury problems. The R’s have just sold Charlie Kelman to Championship rivals Charlton Athletic.
QPR transfer hits temporary snag
Sky Sports reporter Patrick Berger reports that, while the move for Ba has indeed hit a slight hurdle, it is still expected to be completed. The striker is waiting in France to receive the green light to fly to London and finalise the transfer once his visa has come through.
Berger wrote: “Update: Pape Meïssa Ba (28/) from Schalke to QPR is only a matter of time. The player is currently in France, waiting for his visa documents and the green light to travel to the UK.”
Meanwhile, Millwall have completed the signing of Luton Town defender Alfie Doughty in a head-turning coup for the London outfit. The versatile full-back was one of the stars of the Hatters’ Premier League campaign two seasons ago.
Millwall deal Middlesbrough transfer blow
TeesideLive has now confirmed that the switch to The Den comes as a blow to Middlesbrough, who were also targeting the player this summer. Former Luton Town manager Rob Edwards has been appointed at the Riverside Stadium but it’s claimed that interest in Doughty predated his arrival in the North East.
Boro ‘closely monitored’ the situation around Doughty but were beaten to the deal by Millwall. It’s claimed that the player’s allegiances to the Lions helped the club secure a deal.
Millwall director of football Steve Gallen said: “I am really pleased we could get this deal done. Alfie is a player I’ve known for a long time, from when we were both at Charlton. Even as recently as a year ago, there was Premier League interest in him, no doubt due to his versatility and ability both on and off the ball.
