A number of EFL clubs were keeping a beady eye on Scottish League Cup action on Saturday.

QPR are one of several Championship clubs believed to have scouted St Johnstone striker Adama Sidibeh this weekend as St Johnstone faced Rangers in the Scottish League Cup.

The 26-year-old played the full 90 minutes as the Gers won the meeting 2-0 in a somewhat underwhelming performance from the bagsman.

Transfer specialist Pete O'Rourke had reported that the R's were 'set to watch' the striker on Saturday, along with Championship rivals Norwich City and League One outfit Wigan Athletic. The Gambia international has been tipped to leave Scotland this summer amid transfer interest.

Sidibeh only arrived at St Johnstone in January from English non-league side Warrington Rylands but his exploits last season turned heads. The forward helped keep St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership with five vital league goals.

The player already has four goals in his seven outings this season with Football League World also naming Preston North End and Swansea City as sides courting his signature. Aberdeen had also been rumoured to be on the verge of triggering a £550,000 release clause in the player's contract, but nothing materialised from those rumours.

Speaking about the player’s future recently, St Johnstone boss Craig Levein said: "I haven’t heard anything, received any offers or bids for Adama. As far as I am concerned it is business as usual. He has had a brilliant time since joining St Johnstone. He has made his first international appearance and scored. He was a little bit behind everyone else because he played so late into the summer.

"I gave him extra time off and he is just now starting to get up to full speed and it was good to see him get on the scoresheet."

Sidibeh is currently contracted at McDiarmid Park until 2026 but it appears that clubs believe St Johnstone could be swayed for the right transfer fee.

QPR have already added Zan Celar to their squad this summer from FC Lugano but the 25-year-old is yet to find the back of the net, although still has plenty of time to grow into Championship life. Marti Cifuentes' side picked up their first point of the season on the road at Sheffield United today, Jimmy Dunne and Lyndon Dykes scoring in a 2-2 draw.
