Neil on Millwall injuries

New Millwall boss Alex Neil has issued some positive news on injured pair Danny McNamara and Jake Cooper, who could both be available for the FA Cup opener the weekend after next.

Neil said: “They’ll certainly have a chance for that one,” Neil said. “I wouldn’t rule them out for that.” Neil added when asked about possible changes this weekend: “I think the difficulty we’ve got, is who’s gonna be available if I’m honest,” Neil said. “It’s not really a case of chopping and changing, I don’t think we’ve got a lot of changes to make.”

Petrie misses out on move

QPR youngster Kieran Petrie was reportedly being linked with a move to Scotland with St Johnstone, but it appears as though the Scottish club have now decided against a move. The Courier report that St Johnstone will now look elsewhere despite Petrie having had a trial.

St Johnstone are currently bottom of the table, and they are not in a position where they can take risks with their recruitment. Petrie is 20 years of age and searching for regular football, not currently part of the first team plans.

Barry complication

Sunderland are said to be interested in a move for Aston Villa starlet Louie Barry, but the situation has been complicated by the youngster’s current situation. Villa recalled Barry from his loan spell with Stockport, and the Black Cats, among others, quickly showed interest in a loan deal, according to reports.

But The Telegraph are reporting that Villa now intend to sell Barry, valuing him at £12.5million. That could complicate things for Sunderland and others, who face a huge price tag if they want to pull off a deal.
