The international break has now taken hold, with the top two tiers of English football pausing for the best part of two weeks. Millwall and QPR will both have plenty to work on over the next couple of weeks amid less than ideal starts to the campaign.
Millwall haven’t done too badly so far, currently in 18th spot, but the Hoops must improve significantly, already finding themselves in the relegation zone. As the break takes hold, we have rounded up all the latest news surrounding the second tier clubs.

One EFL pundit has expressed concern of QPR’s defensive record after a disappointing start to the season. Speaking on the Not The Top 20 Podcast, Ali Maxwell said: “For QPR, it is seven points from nine games, they are looking so poor on the ball, and the R’s fans on NTT20 squad point towards the absence of Jake Clarke-Salter, who seems to be constantly in and out.
“Ilias Chair came on here and hopefully will add something now that he is finally available. They went from being a really dependable defensive team under Cifuentes - as soon as he arrived - to a bottom eight defensive team, per the underlying numbers at this stage of the season. That is concerning, because they have not improved with the ball nearly as much as they need to for that to end up working out on balance, so not a good afternoon for them, and lots of thinking to be done over the international break.”
Harris on Millwall start
Millwall boss Neil Harris believes his side deserve to be higher in the table than they currently are. “If you look at the stats in the programme it shows our expected goals is higher than West Brom’s,” said Harris to the South London Press. “We’ve scored the same amount of goals – we expect to score more goals.
“The ball has ended up in our net at times when it shouldn’t have done, because we made individual errors. We are the only team outside the top 11 that has a positive goal difference and that paints a real picture. Our fans have travelled up and down the country and seen us outperform teams most weeks and not got our reward.”

Cardiff City are said to be considering the appointment of current Reading boss Ruben Selles having gone into the international break still without a manager. The Bluebirds sacked Erol Bulut in September after a winless start to the season.
Assistant turned interim boss Omer Riza has since secured four points with a win and a draw, but it seems Cardiff will still look to appoint a new boss. According to WalesOnline, Cardiff are considering Reading and former Southampton boss Selles, along with other candidates.
