Chris Sutton and Jeff Stelling are both backing Manchester City to beat Arsenal on Wednesday night. The pair believe Pep Guardiola’s side will be too strong for the Gunners as the duo continue their intense battle for top spot in the Premier League.

The Gunners head into the tricky test on the back of three draws in a row against Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton. They remain five points clear at the summit but City have two games in hand still.

Sutton reckons Arsenal will lose 3-1 to their rivals and has said: “I am very confident with my prediction for this game - the only thing I wasn’t sure about was whether Arsenal would score.

“The Gunners are playing this match at one of the worst possible moments because City have found their rhythm and are hitting some incredible form.

“I really hope Arsenal are brave and take the game to City because the Gunners’ attack is their strength, but in many ways that will play into the home side’s hands.

“Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus - on his return to Etihad Stadium - will all carry a threat, but we have seen how vulnerable they are at the back in the past few weeks, and how on earth do you stop Erling Haaland and co?

“If, say, Nathan Ake is out injured then that will hamper City a bit, but I still see Pep Guardiola’s side really dominating the game, and they are absolutely relentless when they come forward.”

Stelling, on the other hand, predicts a 2-0 home victory: “Arsenal have been struggling with three successive draws and do have a five point lead on their opponents Manchester City. The difference is that the current Premier League champions have won their last six games and still have two games in hand.

“I expect their momentum and quality, alongside the continued absence of William Saliba, to spell trouble for Arsenal, and this could be the final result to signal another title for Manchester City.”

Arsenal have had a brilliant season and deserve to be where they are in the table. The pressure is on now and the cracks are starting to show, especially at the back.

If they are to secure the title, they need to get a result against City. All eyes will be on the Etihad Stadium and Arteta needs to see a big performance from his players.
