Midfielder being looked at

Arsenal have sent ‘scouts’ to watch Flamengo midfielder Matheus Franca in action, as per a report by the Daily Mail. The 19-year-old, who is being tipped for a bright future in the game, is said to be a man in-demand at the moment with Crystal Palace, Real Madrid, Newcastle and Liverpool also credited with an interest.

The Gunners could see the youngster as a decent long-term option for them in the middle of the park. The Brazil youth international has made 27 appearances for his current club in all competitions to date and has chipped in with seven goals.

Academy graduate to leave

Ainsley Maitland-Niles will move on from Arsenal this summer. The 25-year-old, who has five caps for England under his belt, has spent time on loan at Southampton this term.

He has been on the books at the Emirates Stadium for his whole career to date but is now poised to depart permanently. He has told The Athletic: “It’s been a great journey but it has come to an end now (at Arsenal). It’s time for a fresh start and to find a new home. I’m looking forward to that but, at the same time, my head’s not quite there yet and it’s all about what’s happening now with Southampton.”
