Fulham 'reopen' transfer talks for £35m-rated Premier League star amid Crystal Palace interest

The midfielder is thought to be keen to remain in Premier League despite Serie A interest

Just three days after losing 1-0 to his club, Fulham have once again been linked with a move for the Manchester United star Scott McTominay. However, the Cottagers are not the only Premier League side said to be after the player Crystal Palace and Brighton also thought to be looking into bids.

According to reports from The Sun, Napoli have been keen on securing the services of the Red Devils ace and while it’s been said McTominay has given a move to the Serie A side some thought, he remains hopeful of staying in the Premier League.

It seems that Fulham, who have already had bids rejected for McTominay’s signature, remain interested and reports from Sky Sports have even indicated that talks have ‘reopened’.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Seth has reported that: “Fulham have reopened talks with Manchester United over the signing of midfielder Scott McTominay.

“Fulham had two bids rejected earlier in the window and were not expected to go back in unless United were willing to negotiate on their asking price. There is an expectation Fulham will submit an improved offer if talks go positively.”

Reports over McTominay’s price have varied with some outlets indicating Manchester United would be willing to sell their midfield star for £25m, while a more recent report from The Sun suggests that the Red Devils are holding out for closer to £35m.

While it remains to be seen if the Cottagers are willing to cough up the required funds, they would be set to offer a five-year deal for McTominay. The same has also been said of Crystal Palace who have cash to spend this summer after selling Michael Olise to Bayern Munich for over £50m earlier this transfer window.

If the Lancaster-born player were to move to SW6, he would team up with the ex-Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe who made his first start as a Cottage on Friday evening, taking on United at Old Trafford, after signing with Marco Silva’s side for a club record fee of £27m.

The Scotland international is now in the final year of his contract and United do have the option of extending it for another year. This is not the first time the 27-year-old has been the subject of transfer speculation, with West Ham linked with a move for him last summer.
