Transfers are the obvious way to improve, and clubs will be bidding to wrap up more deals over the next couple of weeks, with the window not closing until the end of the month. Here we round up all the latest news and transfer rumours from around the top flight.

Mbabu ‘interest’

Fulham star Kevin Mbabu appears to be attracting plenty of interest this summer after returning from a loan spell with Augsburg last season. The defender is likely to move on this summer with just one year remaining on his current contract.

According to Blick, clubs in Spain, Netherlands, Germany and Turkey have all expressed an interest. Mbabu impressed on loan last season, making 25 league appearances, but he couldn’t quite get into Switzerland’s Euro 2024 squad. He now looks set to move on before the end of the window.

Chiesa still an option

Chelsea look to be all set out wide, while Tottenham could yet move to strengthen their wing spots. Juventus star Federico Chiesa has been linked, and according to Old Lady boss Thiago Motta, the Italy international is still very much available. “Our position on Federico Chiesa hasn't changed. He’s not part of our plans,” he said. “We've talked. It's a demonstration of the respect I have for everyone. Transparency, clarity, that's the way I communicate with my players”.

Guehi alternative

Newcastle United continue to search for a new centre-back, with Crystal Palace holding firm over Marc Guehi, rejecting multiple bids. According to Mundo Deportivo, former Chelsea and current Barcelona star Andreas Christensen is now an option for the Magpies.

The report claims Barca do not want to sell Christensen despite having good cover at centre-back, and they will demand a fee of at least £25million to agree a sale. The problem Barca may have is that the fee is very affordable for Newcastle who are now above £65million in the Guehi bidding. Liverpool’s Joe Gomez is also said to be an option for Newcastle.
