The unique reason why Manchester United are confident they can beat Tottenham to Eberechi Eze

Both Manchester United and Tottenham have Eberechi Eze on their summer transfer list.

Crystal Palace face a real fight on their hands to keep on hold of their priced jewel Eberechi Eze this summer with both Manchester United and Tottenham keeping close tabs on him.

The former Queen Park Rangers midfielder is a man with a growing reputation in the English game having consistently improved since he joined Crystal Palace three seasons ago. Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is a huge admirer of the 25-year-old.

But Manchester United's board is said to be united in their pursuit of the player, unlike Spurs where the interest is driven by Postecoglou. United have identified the Palace midfielder as the long-term replacement to captain Bruno Fernandez.

LondonWorld sources have said United are looking to finalise the future of manager Erik ten Hag before moving in for Eze and will sell their long-term project of him being the creative force behind the new United they aim to build next season.

The release clause that could be a game-changer

Eze's summer has suddenly become more interesting because the DailyMail has reported that he has a release clause in his current deal that could potentially take negotiations away from his club Palace this summer.

The report adds that the Eagles forward’s clause is worth £60million plus additional add-ons worth in the region of £8million. If he excels at the Euros with England, there is a likelihood that more teams in Europe will be looking to secure his services.

What Gareth Southgate has said about players discussing their club future at the Euros

England manager Southgate has said he will not stop players from holding talks about their club's future during the Euros in Germany.

“I’ve never banned players from having discussions. It’s a fact of life, even if transfers don’t complete, talks are ongoing, normally across the summer with players, I’m always there for them if they want to bounce things off,’ said the national team head coach.

“I’m always saying to them, don’t get het up about things. Things will take their natural course.

“We are in a world where there might have to be deals done quickly, who knows but we’re comfortable with dealing with all those things."
