Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson says he knows the level of work required to get the Eagles back to winning Premier League games and secure their status for another season.

The Eagles have 27 points from 28 games and with just 10 games to go, they have to hit the ground running. They last won a Premier League game on New Year’s Eve at Bournemouth and Vieira has had to pay with his job for the fading form.

Hodgson,75, one of the successful Eagles managers in recent history says he’s delighted to go back to Palace, a place he calls home and is ready for the work that is required.

He told the club’s website: “It is a privilege to be asked to return to the club, which has always meant so much to me, and to be given the important task of turning the team’s fortunes around.

“Our sole objective now is to start winning matches, and to get the points necessary to ensure our Premier League status.”

Hodgson was at the club’s training ground earlier on and will begin work immediately ahead of winnable games against Leicester, Leeds United, Southampton and Everton.

A large part number of the players have gone on international break and some players have been given time off ahead of the busy schedule that will define their season.

The foundation on which Hodgson was brought back was because he knows the club and players and can get the best out of them straight away.
