What Crystal Palace have just said about Eberechi Eze and Cheick Doucoure's injury blows

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has hinted the injury to Eberechi Eze in their 2-1 defeat to Luton Town might be serious and says he thinks he's rolled his ankle.

Eze was only coming back from another injury and was starting only his second consecutive game in months. The England midfielder was looking to build some consistency before it all came crashing down against one of the Premier League's-promoted sides.

Given that he tried to continue and shake it off without success, Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson said it wasn't looking great and that it was a problem with his ankle.

He told reporters after the game at Kenilworth Road: “He didn’t exactly go down, did he?.

“The way I saw it, he was brought down and as he was trying to get away, the player landed on him and has damaged his ankle."

This was a damaging game for the Eagles with midfielder Cheick Doucoure also picking up an injury and likely to spend some time on the treatment table.

The Eagles manager also provided an update on him Mali international who was seen leaving the stadium on crutches.

Hodgson added: “He’s got a bad injury.

“I’ll let the doctor deal with that first. It’s not going to be an injury that keeps him out for a short period of time.”

The Eagles travel to West Ham United for their next Premier League desperately looking for points having lost their last two.
