As per The News, Portsmouth boss John Mousinho has said Crystal Palace defender Jake O’Brien is a player who isn’t currently on his radar. The youngster will return to Selhurst Park at the end of the season from his loan spell at RWD Molenbeek.

The Republic of Ireland youth international was linked with a few Football League clubs in the January transfer window but ended up staying put in Belgium. The Irish Examiner claimed Pompey and Wycombe Wanderers were interested, whilst Bristol Live suggested Championship outfit Bristol City also looked into a deal.

When asked whether he is on his radar, Mousinho, who was appointed at Fratton Park, said: “Not at the moment. I’ll have to look at that and follow it up when I’ve had a full rundown. That’s the beauty of how we operate here at the moment. I wouldn’t necessarily know every single player we’re in the market for and looking at.

“But I will know by the time it gets filtered down to a list of players we’re interested in. The players will all fit the profile of what we’ve been looking at over the past few weeks.”

Crystal Palace signed O’Brien from Cork City in 2021 after he caught their eye playing in the League of Ireland. He is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Eagles but has been a regular for the U23s.

He spent the second-half of the last campaign on loan at Swindon Town in League Two and played 21 times. The Cork-born man has since made 19 appearances in the Challenger Pro League.
