'He will definitely miss': Oliver Glasner rules out 27-year-old Crystal Palace star from Newcastle game

Crystal Palace have suffered another injury setback ahead of their game against Newcastle.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed Rob Holding has suffered a setback on his way back to full fitness and will not be involved when Newcastle come to south London tomorrow night.

The 27-year-old who has made only one appearance for the Eagles since joining from Arsenal in the summer was on the bench against West Ham on Sunday. The hope was that he would have been able to get through another week of team training and then earn some minutes against Newcastle tomorrow night.

But manager Oliver Glasner speaking ahead of the game confirmed Holding had picked up a knock that could keep out for the next couple of games. He said: “Unfortunately Rob Holding is injured again. It is tough because he is just back from injury. We don’t know the degree but it is something with his hamstring, so we don’t know how long it will take.

“He will definitely miss [the Newcastle United] game and I think Saturday against Fulham. That is the bad news, but the other players are fit.”

Adam Wharton fit to boost resurgent Eagles

It's not all bad news though with midfielder Adam Wharton who was forced off against West Ham returing to training and being in line to feature again tomorrow night. The former Blackburn Rovers star has been an instant hit since joining the Eagles in January.

His passing range has increased the team’s ball retention and he’s quickly emerging as one of the key players for the new Palace boss who has wasted little in introducing a style of play since taking over in February.
