Crystal Palace star Michael Olise will miss the start of the new Premier League season after suffering a grade three hamstring injury with France at the ongoing European under-21 Championship.

This is the second time the winger is suffering a hamstring when he’s been with the France team after suffering one during his first season as a Palace player.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the French forward has suffered the worst form of hamstring and will now begin rehabilitation as soon as possible but his chance of being fit for the start of next season are very slim.

Michael Olise impressed massively last season when he scored two goals in the league but it’s his 11 assists that proved he was a special player, taking delight in finding his teammates to help the Eagles finish comfortably in midtable.

His efforts were acknowledged by his teammates when he was named the club’s Players’ Player of the Season for his efforts. Crystal Palace are close to naming Roy Hodgson as their manager for next season after he impressed following his return to the club to take over from Patrick Vieira.

The former Reading man played a key role in the fine form that saw Hodgson win five and draw three of the 10 games he was in charge and his injury will be a big concern to the veteran manager.

The Eagles also have the situation of Wilfried Zaha to deal with as the Ivory Coast international’s contract comes to an end this month.
